IMPRO Amsterdam

IMPRO Amsterdam is Europe's oldest and largest improvisational theatre festival — eight days of nonstop unscripted theatre in Amsterdam-Noord. Every February it gathers hundreds of improvisers from around the world at Het Zonnehuis for roughly 30 shows and more than 50 workshops, with no scripts at any point. The programme embraces everything improv can be: comedy, of course, but also drama, physical theatre, musicals, and silent or abstract work. Each year an international festival ensemble — 8 guests from abroad and 8 improvisers from the Netherlands — performs formats brought to life by guest directors. The 2027 edition runs 20–27 February 2027. Applications to perform, teach, direct or host a jam opened on 18 July and close on 18 September. Performing groups are chosen in two tracks: Mainstage (polished shows, up to 250 seats in the Theaterzaal) and Late Night (looser, experimental work in the 80-seat Blauwe Zaal).
