📍 Kansas City, MO

Trish Berrong has been improvising non-stop since 1990. She got her start at KC ComedySportz (later ComedyCity) and left after just a year to start an improv troupe (Lighten Up Improv Co.) that became a theater. (She does not recommend this approach.) Lighten Up produced the first long-form improv in Kansas City. They started with a copy of typed notes from Del Close’s original long-form workshops at The Committee in San Francisco. Trish has taken classes from Del, members of the original casts of The Movie and Night of the Mutant Harolds as well as many other early iO (ImprovOlympic) teachers. She’s taken intensives with The Annoyance Theater, Second City, Artistic New Directions, Dave Razowsky (Second City) and Dan Izzo (Annoyance, Fireball Theater). She loves short-form with long-form smarts and long-form with short-form playfulness. She hates not knowing things and believes in life-long learning. She currently is in the cast of The Bird Musical Comedy Show, regularly coaches and performs with Improv Springboard, and plays with the indie teams Explosive Group Chat, Ham Kitty, and Brownies Don’t Lie, a duo with Minneapolis improviser Jill Bernard.
