Two or three players start an ordinary scene. At any moment the host calls "Reverse!" — and the players rewind, replaying their last lines and movements in the exact opposite order, like a tape running backwards. On "Forward!", they snap back to normal and carry on from where the rewind left them. The host jumps the scene back and forth at will. The comedy isn't in the story — it's in the recall. A player un-sips their coffee, un-slams the door, un-says the insult. The more precisely a beat is remembered, the funnier it is to watch it come undone. Reversing the words themselves is optional; reversing the order of lines and actions is the game.

Keep the lines short. The comedy lives in the action and the repetition, not in clever dialogue — the more the players talk, the less there is to rewind, and the harder it is to remember. Coach concrete, physical beats early: pouring a drink, standing up, handing something over. Clear actions rewind cleanly — two talking heads don't. Call "reverse" on a strong line or a big physical moment. That's the beat the audience most wants to see undone, and the one the players will remember best. Keep rewinds short — three or four lines back is the sweet spot. Long rewinds expose memory gaps and drain the pace. When a player forgets, let it ride. The scramble to rebuild the scene is often funnier than a flawless rewind, and stopping to correct kills the energy. Never freeze the game to fix a mistake. As the host, you own the rhythm: vary the gap between calls, and always end on "forward", on a button — never mid-rewind. Two levels in one game: beginners simply replay lines in reverse order; advanced players say the words backwards, phonetically, for a real memory workout.
